Nickel & Chrome Plating...
| Nickel is a white
lustrous metal having a high mechanical strength, is fairly hard and at ordinary
temperatures is paramagnetic. It oxidises, with difficulty, even when heated in air.
However polished surfaces will gradually corrode on atmospheric exposure. For engineering applications, ductility and hardness are of major importance, for decorative finishes the presence of excessive stress, brittleness or low ductility could result in premature failure of the coating. The most widely used nickel plating is followed by a bright chromium deposit which provides a combination of protection against corrosion, resistance to wear, tolerance to high temperatures and a decorative appeal. The chromium layer serves to preserve the appearance of the nickel deposit and also to improve the protective value. A bright nickel-chrome finish is the more usual, although it is possible to have a satin finish. With two tanks, a maximum tank size is 6'x3'x3', together with barrelling, we are able to offer a wide range of nickel and chrome plating facilities. |
