| Anodic oxidation is
extensively used for the production of protective and decorative films on aluminium. In
the anodising process the thin invisible film of aluminium oxide which forms naturally on
the surface and provides some degree of corrosion protection for the underlying aluminium
is increased to a considerably greater thickness. Using a sulphuric acid process a colourless, transparent finish, on aluminium and aluminium-magnesium alloys whereas on alloys containing silicon, copper or manganese, semi opaque, colourless, grey, bronze or brown films are produced depending on the amounts of alloying constituents. The anodic film is electrically resistive and can be dyed to give a wide range of attractive colours. With two tanks and a maximumtank size of 8'x3'x3', we are able to handle a wide range of sizes of aluminium and castings. |
